. amy hollyfield joins us live from the neighborhood to find a wall of mud. they have done a lot of prep work. >> they 6. there is a light rain falling right now. they know it is coming this weekend. they want people to be vigilant and if they see any trouble to give them a call right away. city officials have spent the last couple of days preparing the park and hillside for this storm. park is now surrounded by hay bales and netting also borders the problem area. they have uncovered the storm drain in the middle of the park. >> what we're trying to do is let the water that would fall go into the curb and gutter. not to suggest we're going to have muddy water but we won't have the water that we had tuesday morning. >> reporter: this is what they are trying to keep from happening. a pipe broke causing 45,000 gallons of water to spew into the neighborhood along with mountains of mud. it was a gross mess. residents don't want to see the rain shake loose any of that mud. they are worried that the holidays has been weakened and it could happen again. city employees feel like they have taken e

you for joining us. let's get a quick look at the weather and rain. >> couple reports already coming in. excuse me. it's on its way. that means from this point forward the morning commute will start to get on the wet side. the evening commute will be on the moderate to heavy side. that will be two bands one in the morning and one in the afternoon. >>> live news chopper two showing a picture of a mess on the bay bridge. we had reports of two crashes it's trying to clear up whether or not it's two or one bad one here. this crash on the bridge definitely we see one westbound coming up and just temporarily blocked all the lanes. now they are in the two right lanes here approaching treasure aland. we also had a crash reported on the other side of treasure island. it's unclear if that one is there or not. for sure they are trying to get the cars out of there. the tow truck is hooked up to one of the vehicles. this has made a huge backup at the bay bridge toll plaza. if you are trying to get into san francisco your commute will be tough. and the rain son the way. that will not help. let's g

for many of us. we're facing a lot of fog and a lot of traffic here. it's still dense enough that it's still hard to make out the toll plaza. it's right behind us. even the warning signs about the fog are hard to read. there is a break in the fog around san pablo. but be prepared for the fog on the side streets as well this morning at jack london square in oakland. could you not read the streets there -- you could not read the signs. give yourself some extra time. slow down and use those low beams. reporting live in oakland, lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> thank you, lorraine and here is a live look picture from our roof cam looking towards san francisco. you can't see very far. it's very foggy in some parts of the bay area. now, we just spoke to the duty manager at sfo. he says the fog is expected to cause delays of more than an hour most of the day. those delays are expected to begin around 8:00 a.m. and continue until at least 3:00 in the afternoon. again, this is at sfo. the fog is expected to cause delays at the airports in oakland and san jose. a lot of people heading

last night. ktvu's alex savidge joins us live to explain what caused the victim to go out in the dark. >> reporter: good morning. this man's body was recovered. it's believed he drowned. firefighters say he went out in the rain last night trying to find his lost cat and he ended up falling off this sleep cliff behind his house and he landed in the water. this is a water-filled rock quarry right below his home here. this is next to the rockridge shopping center. the oakland fire department launched a search around 7:00 last night after the man's friend reported him missing. rescuers used a boat. one rescue worker rappelled down the cliff. just before 1:00 this morning, they found the man's body about 30 feet under water. one of the drivers involved in this recovery operation explain how they locate a body in dark, murky water like this. >> we use a circle search where we set an anchor at the bottom and a buoy at the top. we have drivers stationed on the bottom and another diver that circles that anchor searching for our target. >> reporter: so far, authorities are not releasing the ide

avoid the beach today. katie marzullo, abc7 news. >>> eric thomas joins us from sfo where we just got new numbers on the scope of flight cancellations and delays. >> reporter: the wind is picking up out here so far it hasn't been to the 50 or 60 mile hour they feared. they thought that would cause delays of up to 226 minutes. we have some delays, but we have many more cancellations. in fact, sfo says more than 60 flights have been cancelled, due to the storm most short haul flights up and didn't the west coast. pictures of those boards showing cancellations here. fresno, santa barbara and boise, that's where with the flights have been cancelled. they will be combined with other flights so passengers will get to where they are going. only about fewer than a half dozen flight delays most of them in the 15 to 30 minute range not the 226 minute range that the faa first projected. what we are hearing is maybe later this afternoon as things begin to build, sfo could say delays of up to an hour maybe two hours. the advice is the same as it always is, call ahead to your airline, find out what

mike inouye is taking a look at the roads for us. meteorologist christina loren has a look at your forecast of course but we begin with bob redell, who is live at the bay bridge. we just saw a look at that live shot. yeah, plenty of fog there, bob. >> reporter: yeah, and it's very dense. there is dense fog in the north bay, san francisco, the upper peninsula and oakland. you can see live behind me this is the scene at the bay bridge toll plaza where we're certainly already seeing that early monday morning backup and perhaps, perhaps part of the reason why it's backing up so much is because of the dense fog. the national weather service has issued dense fog advisories for five of the bay area bridges, including the bay bridge. live look at the golden gate bridge cam, you can't even see the two towers of the golden gate bridge. there is a lot of dense fog there. the headlights heading southbound from marin into san francisco. you've also got advisories on the richmond-san rafael, benicia-martinez and the san mateo. all of those under advisories. according to our team of meteorologist

been very busy this morning bracing us all for a lot of rain and fog that's going to be there. a busy week ahead. >> this could be one of the more significant weeks when we tally everything up at the end of the year because it's looking that potent. let me tell you a little about what's to come. we've got maybe 4 inches of rain, wind gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour but not just yet. what you need to know for today is thick follow developing, not as thick as yesterday, not as widespread. nonetheless give yourself extra time and travel cautiously because you will find very thick patches from time to time, especially along the peninsula and up in the north bay. as we head through this afternoon, we'll get a little sunshine for the first part of the day and the clouds thicken up as we get into this afternoon and evening ahead of a series of storms. prolonged wet and windy pattern that lasts well into next week. then we've got another round potentially wednesday into thursday. i'm looking 15 days out. 64 in livermore, 64 in fremont and 63 in san jose. you'll need the jacket today and

news. >>> eric thomas joins us from sfo where we just got new numbers on the scope of flight cancellations and delays. >> reporter: the wind is picking up out here so far it hasn't been to the 50 or 60 mile hour they feared. they thought that would cause delays of up to 226 minutes. we have some delays, but we have many more cancellations. in fact, sfo says more than 60 flights have been cancelled, due to the storm most short haul flights up and didn't the west coast. pictures of those boards showing cancellations here. fresno, santa barbara and boise, that's where with the flights have been cancelled. they will be combined with other flights so passengers will get to where they are going. only about fewer than a half dozen flight delays most of them in the 15 to 30 minute range not the 226 minute range that the faa first projected. what we are hearing is maybe later this afternoon as things begin to build, sfo could say delays of up to an hour maybe two hours. the advice is the same as it always is, call ahead to your airline, find out what time your flight is taking off. yo

delays at sfo. >> roberta gonzales is at the airport for us now with more. how long are we talking? >> reporter: right now the rain has stopped. we have a little reprieve but winds have been problematic gusting up to 37 miles an hour. behind me is an empty runway. this is something that you should not be seeing at this time of the day. it should be filled with arriving and departure flights. right now we have one cancellation of an international plane but we have so many cancellations of arriving flights for monterey, from orange county, from santa barbara. and earlier today we had over 4 hour delays on arriving flights. i just went inside the terminal and took another look. it looks like we are still seeing delays up to 2 hours and 24 minutes on arriving flights. what the duty manager says is that even if we begin to pick up some of these rates of departing flights we'll still have problems now on arrivals because it takes a while to get these planes turned around after such a huge delay. so word of advice, if you are coming to sfo, it's advisable to call ahead because this is goi

. new at noon police just finished a news briefing, alex savidge joins us live with more on the investigation and the people who helped the victim. good afternoon, alex. >> reporter: good afternoon, at that briefing that wrapped up here a lieutenant said this woman is lucky she survived. witnesses found her beaten in a ditch along the side of the freeway. bound with duct tape. police used those witness accounts and also information from the victim herself to track down and arrest a 14-year- old boy in connection withis vicious attack. investigators say the 65-year- old woman was kidnapped at gun point late yesterday from this shopping center on the 100 block of plaza drive. vallejo police say the gunman forced her to drive her minivan several miles away to an area near hidden brook parkway. that is where investigators believe this 14-year-old attacker sexually assaulted the woman and beat her unconscious, the teen drove off in the woman's minivan. thankfully though witnesses found her and got her help, quite possibly saving her life. >> in the greatest sense they were imp
